The OGS Admissions Process

After you submit an application, the admission process begins. You will be considered on this basis of:

  • Academic record
  • References
  • Personal information

Program Orientation Workshop (POW) at the Dayton, TN Campus

At this on-campus workshop, details of the degree program will be explained.  You will participate in initial academic classes and will make decisions concerning advancement as a student.

Application Checklist

  • Apply Online or download an application to submit by mail
  • Request official transcripts to be sent directly to Oxford Graduate School
  • Submit three letters of recommendation.  The letters should address your:
    (a) academic ability
    (b) professional standing, moral character and conduct
    (c) personal stability
    (d) maturity

Master of Letters Admissions Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent
  • GPA of 3.0  in undergraduate studies
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience
  • Validation of your professional experience, certification, and/or credentials
  • Must be 25 years of age or older

Doctor of Philosophy Admissions Requirements

  • Masters-level degree with at least 30 cohesive semester hours in support of the D.Phil Course of Study
  • GPA of 3.0 in masters-level studies
  • Validation of professional experience, certification, and/or credentials
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience
  • Must be 25 years of age or older
  • Develop an acceptable subject area for graduate research

Transferable Credits

Oxford Graduate School does not automatically transfer credits from another institution into doctoral studies. If deficiencies are determined, the applicant will be assigned appropriate masters level course work prior to entry into the doctoral program.
