Sharlene Buszka is an Associate Professor of Business Administration at Daemen College in Amherst, New York. She is also Chair of the Accounting, Business Administration and Paralegal degree programs. Dr. Buszka maintains SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) certification, is a member of SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) and BNHRA (Buffalo Niagara Human Resource Association). She is the faculty advisor for the Daemen student SHRM Chapter which has received recognition for its contributions to the campus and local community. In addition, she serves as the secretary for the Board of Directors of the Buffalo City Mission in Buffalo, New York. Besides her current interests in faith and work integration, she is currently involved in research on refugee workforce development and employer attitudes towards employees with disabilities. Past research and publications have focused on topics related to work and family balance.
As a 2015 Graduate of Oxford Graduate School, Sharlene’s dissertation, Factors Affecting the Integration of Faith and Spirituality in the College Workplace, received the Grail Award for research quality. She is pleased to announce that a portion of this research is being published as a book chapter in Faith and Work: Christian Perspectives. The chapter is co-authored with the book’s publisher, Dr. Tim Ewest, and will be presented at The Academy of Management Conference this August in Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, a book proposal developed with Dr. Ewest has been given the green light by Palgrave Publishers. This book will include the Spheres of Influence model developed in her dissertation, and fulfill Sharlene’s dream of writing a book on the topic of Faith and Work. She is thankful to the mentors and faculty at OGS who helped her identify her passions and how to move forward to become a world-changer in realm of work.
