Our Historical Identity
Since its founding, OGS has clearly expressed certain aspects of its identity that delimit its identity, mission, and purpose. OGS is:
- Accredited – OGS is fully accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and is authorized by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC).
- Non-Profit – OGS is a non-profit institution and does not have shareholders or profit-driven interests.
- Non-Sectarian – OGS is not affiliated with any particular denomination or organized religion.
- Non-Partisan– OGS does not advocate for or affiliate with any political party, agenda, or figure.
- Non-Discriminatory – OGS does not discriminate admissions based on race, religion, or any protected class.
- Free-Standing – OGS is a free-standing institution without ownership or control from other institutions.
- Faith-Based – OGS identifies with the “Mere Christianity” tradition of CS Lewis in our Solidarity of Faith Statement.
